Venison Tater Tot Nachos
Crispy, golden tater tots loaded with seasoned venison and melted cheese and all the right toppings. Venison Tater Tot Nachos are the ultimate crowd-pleasing comfort food. The ground venison is cooked with onion, garlic, and a smoky blend of paprika, chili powder, and cumin, giving it a deep, savory flavor with just the right amount of warmth. Sharp cheddar brings bold richness while pepper jack adds a subtle kick, all melting down into the crunchy base for the perfect balance of texture and taste. Ingredients
For the Venison
● 1 tbsp Olive Oil
● 1 lb Ground Venison
● 1 small Onion, finely diced
● 2 cloves Garlic, minced
● 2 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
● 2 teaspoon Chili Powder
● 2 teaspoon Cumin
● ½ teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper (optional, for heat)
● Salt and Black Pepper, To Taste
● 1 tablespoon Water
For the Nachos
● 1 32 ounce bag Frozen Tater Tots
● 2 cups shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Freshly Shredded
● 1 cup shredded Pepper Jack Cheese, Freshly Shredded
Optional Toppings
● ½ cup Cooked and Crumbled Bacon
● ¼ cup diced Tomatoes
● 2 tablespoons sliced Green Onions
● 2 tablespoons sliced Jalapeños
● Mexican Sour Cream Or Regular Sour Cream, For Drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (or according to tater tot package directions)
- Arrange tater tots on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake until golden and crispy, about 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.
- While tater tots bake, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft and translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground venison and cook, breaking up with a spatula, until browned.
- Stir in smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, crushed red pepper, salt, and black pepper. Add in water and mix then set aside
- Once the tater tots are crisp, remove from the oven and evenly top with cooked venison then sprinkle shredded cheddar and pepper jack cheese generously on top. Bake for 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Top with any of the remaining toppings desired and serve warm.
