Build Your Buck List with the Moultrie App

Bucks highlighted using the Moultrie App feature Buck List

It’s funny how a set of ivory-tipped bones on a deer’s head can cause hunters to do a double-take and invest time and money into pursuing that specific animal. But we do it every fall and wouldn’t have it any other way. Now, Moultrie can help you track the bucks you've marked as special. Maybe it’s a promising young buck that needs another year or two.

What Is the Buck List Feature?

Buck List is a feature in the Moultrie app that lets you create individual profiles for bucks, tag their photos, track sightings, and organize all your trail cam intel in one place. Hopefully, you have one or two mature bucks that deserve a spot on your target list. Whatever the reason, you can now start to sort and store specific bucks in Moultrie’s newest app feature, Buck List.

How to Access Buck List in the Moultrie App

Inside the Moultrie App, Buck List now lives in the tabs at the top of your Gallery screen. To start building your Buck List, tap the new feature and select “Unknown Bucks.” Scroll through your trail cam images, and when you find a buck you'd like to track, tap the “Add to” icon and select “Buck.” Then, choose “New Buck” to create a profile, add a name record antler points on each side, assign a maturity level, and jot down any notes that could help you pattern him, like stand location or wind conditions. Tap the cover photo to crop in on that perfect antler view. Done.

Creating a New Buck Profile

Each buck you add to your Buck List gets its own folder, where you can:

  1. Enter a name
  2. Assign maturity level (Young or Mature)
  3. Record antler points on each side
  4. Add notes like stand names, food sources, or unique markings
  5. Crop a cover photo so you can quickly ID that deer in the future
  6. Now, whenever you get an image or video of that buck, just drop it into the designated folder.

Not only do you have a detailed folder with only that buck’s images in it, but it also provides you with the date, time, and last camera location. You can now see the bigger picture with all the information for one buck is stored in one place.

Filter and Track with Pinpoint Precision

Use Gallery and Activity Filters

Once you've added a few bucks to your list, you can filter your Gallery and Activity charts by individual, non-harvested bucks. This helps you focus only on the deer you're targeting without the distraction of new or already-harvested animals.

Use the Activity tab to visualize patterns by time of day, temperature, or location. It gives you insight into where and when that buck is likely to appear next.

Turn Data Into Strategy

When you've filled a tag, you can mark that buck as Harvested to clean up your filters and views. This removes him from “Add to” menus and activity tracking while keeping the full history archived in case you ever want to look back.

Accidentally marked the wrong buck? No problem. Just change his status back to Active with a couple taps.

Tips for Maximizing Buck List

  • Stick to one profile per buck. Don’t split sightings of the same deer across multiple entries.
  • Use the notes section to record conditions, rut sign, food sources, or stand location.
  • Combine with Activity insights to dial in the best time and place to hunt that buck.
